It's progress if I just created Twitter in hopes of contacting Seth Rogan and Adam Sandler, right?
Well it is to me when there's no other start.
I am playing a solo set tomorrow - I am sure going to make note of what songs I should put on the album.
Maybe I will open up with a joke or two. *cough* tough crowd. How about that airplane food?
I am much more likely to rant about ridiculous female over-plucked eyebrows and the social construction of the banking system.
Either way, happy ass Friday folks! I miss the TGIF lineup, Sabrina The Teenage Witch was my favorite.

With another year behind us, there have been many New Year's resolutions I am sure. For me, I decided to make sure my friends are always appreciated. I can definitely count on a few people to always show up when I play a show, when I have an art opening or a party. I want them to always know how much I really, really truly appreciate it. Which makes me want to add a new thing to my list : meet some new amazing friends. I tend to find perfect, amazing friendships with people who are going to be moving away. This is like a common theme. Sure, I get along with a lot of people but I mean the kind of friend you can tell anything to. Take Jen, for instance. In a few months we definitely consumed 20 liters of wine, ate many olives, and danced to Chumbawumba. These people are few and far between. Jen has a real job now and \I am still an undergrad, and she lives far away, thus, I need a new wine-o who will sing along pop songs off-key with me when I play guitar.

I also had a dream last night I went ziplining with my parents and husband. Something I don't think they would do. But I looked at my mom and said "I am so going to put this in my blog." Dreams can be quite revealing sometimes.

In the spirit of a new year, I want to add a few more things.
- Crash a wedding. Not in a destructive way. Just find my way into a wedding and pretend to be Joe's niece or Steve's sister or something. I will LOL forever, especially if it's open bar.
- Do a set of stand up comedy. This has been my secret dream for awhile. I keep writing little notes of jokes I would do. I always think of the best ones if I am drinking and then forget them. So I am trying to write them down now. I'm sure I can find some open mic somewhere soon enough.
- Finally make my own wine. No brainer, really. Just takes motivation.
- Publish an article in a paper.

Well here's to another day! I may start that article later, in fact.
Cheers!

Wow this is hard! I got so wrapped up in Christmas I had trouble finding the time to sit down and actually post! As for my goals...well I am a little lost. I however managed to survive Christmas without meat! I did cheat on cheese - we came home from a dance at 2 AM and just HAD to order pizza. At least I don't lie!
I'm looking forward to starting school again next week and getting back into a routine - at least than I can stay more focused on my list!
By way of progress, there hasn't been much (yet). But I am sure ringing in the new year will have me thinking of even more ways to have a better year, and thus, more items for the list!
Well off to check our vegan dinner in my new slow cooker my husband got me for Christmas!
Have a happy new year!

So it's another wonderful day I have spent boiling chickpeas for this amazing vegan chili for supper - complete with fresh tomatoes, red and yellow peppers and mushrooms. As I wait for the chickpeas to boil I figured it was a good time to update! I spent yesterday studying for my last exam which was conveniently 7 -9 PM on a Friday night. I celebrated by having a no cheese, veggie filled panzorotti (delicious pizza pocket type of thing) from Pronto Pizza and an seen an amazing John Cossar and Hudson Hogarth show at Sharky's. So one step closer to the degree and still holding on to vegan values...I feel great! Tonight is my work Christmas party show with The Rolling Kings and I can't wait - I am hoping immersing myself in live music will further motivate me to record my own album. For now I'm still trying to figure everything out, but I think I will start on my goal of reading 100 books since I have so much free time! Have a great Saturday!

15. Become full fledged vegan

So it's day three and I can say I am trying my best with this one. I know it's a process but I have crossed it off - it's a commitment, really. I did my research and bought a slew of veggies, tofu, beans, and protein rich foods that do not have meat. The dairy thing is going to be hard, but if you look well enough in the grocery store there are really so many alternatives. I'm excited to have a healthier diet. Christmas will be the real test - resisting mom's cheesecake and my inevitable desire for traditional Newfoundland salt beef...I will try not to cheat. Either way, doing our best is all we can do. And tomorrow I know I can look forward to not feeling  like dirt after eating a burger and have much more energy to work on my other goals. Good luck on yours! Until then, chow (on veggies preferably).

Get a university degree?

Well technically I can't cross this off, or anything off the list today. However, I did have a very successful exam this afternoon, which brings me one step closer to my dreams. I like to think of the ladder analogy - every step you take is one step closer to reaching the goal. Just one rung at a time. This is important to remember, don't give up before you reach the top or you're likely to fall back to the ground. We shall see what happens tomorrow on my life adventures!

PS - I didn't eat any meat today but I had cream cheese. Must buy more suitable groceries for my goal of becoming vegan. I am trying hard though! I will definitely have to give up drunk pizza.

The journey of following both big and small dreams

Life is short. We all know this - sometimes it takes certain events to make us realize that truly, it is. This is my journey of following my dreams. I figured a blog would be a good kickstart - sometimes I need a push in the right direction to keep me going. Everyone has a bucket list, this is not new to a blog either. My goal is to not be unique in this, all I want is to write a ridiculous list of both achievable and sometimes crazy things I always wanted to do. One by one, I will complete them. This will be the master list and every day I will strive to cross one thing off the list, or at least take a step in the right direction. I will also add things to this list as I think of them or acquire new ideals. I will post about my feelings, my progress and really everything. This may or may not work, I dont know. The outcome is unclear, either way it will be interesting to see the progression. I would love to hear your story.

1. Publish a book
2. Get a university degree
3. Buy a new car
4. Go ziplining
5. Travel to Europe
6. Meet Adam Sandler
7. Be in a movie
8. Go for a helicopter ride
9. Perform in a play or musical
10. Release an album of songs I have written
11. Busk by playing clarinet
12. Go kayaking
13. Perform in a national poetry slam
14. See The Rocky Mountains - in the daytime
15. Become full fledged vegan
16. Give a workshop to at risk youth
17. Paint a really good oil painting of a nature scene
18. Read 100 books I have not read before
19. One day wake up with no financial worries
20. Have a beer drinking contest with Seth Rogan
21. Be on the Ellen DeGeneres Show
22. Crash a wedding
23. Make an amazing new friend
24. Do a set of stand up comedy
25. Make my own wine
26. Argue a parking ticket for a car that's not mine in a British accent

Well folks, thats it for now. I have to get to work...both to my job and to figuring this out. Again, I will try my best every day to work towards these goals. I know it seems crazy, but my hope is to prove that nothing is impossible if you set your mind it!
